Digital Media Plan
From the beginning of August 2025, Act on Primary and Secondary Education prohibits students from using mobile devices during lessons. The purpose of Digital Media Plan is to support schools in creating effective practices within the framework of the new law and at the same time strengthen students’ digital well-being outside of lessons. When designing school rules, a broader look should be taken at what kind of support young people need with digital media. Digital Media Plan helps the school to systematically review digital everyday life and examine the use of devices in a diverse way. It also helps to communicate the issue to employees, students and parents.
Digital Media Plan’s model is built around a joint workshop, where the current situation is mapped out and unclear issues are decided.

Description
Digital media plan is built around a workshop day, during which the school’s current situation, rules, practices and related communications are reviewed and recorded. The purpose is to stop to examine whether current practices are working, and how they could be developed in a direction that promotes the holistic digital well-being of young people. The answer is compiled into a clear and concise package that can be used as communication material for students, guardians and staff.
The material package includes:
- School’s instructions for the workshop
- Background material for the workshop
- Questions for the workshop
- Ready-made templates for communicating about the plan
Digital media plan has been produced by EHYT ry’s Pause project.
